Let’s be honest, as you’re planning your dream wedding, I’m sure you have been given advice left and right and told what to and not to do. There is SO much out there, and it can be overwhelming sometimes! Today I’m here to help you by sharing my most recommended tips I’ve learned over my years of photographing weddings (and having gone through the process myself) to help you focus and not do it all at once. Let’s get started, shall we?
Create a wedding planning email address to help you keep all of your communication in one spot! This will not only help you refer back, but after you’re married you also won’t be spammed with ads for wedding planning in your primary email address.
Before you plan too much, consider the guest list and how many family and friends you would like to celebrate this day with you. Doing so will narrow down Venues to choose from based on their available space and seating!
On your wedding day, consider splurging on a new perfume! Every time you smell the fragrance, your mind will go to that special day and all of the beautiful memories.
Make sure you have a Plan B in place. With spring around the corner, weather is unpredictable. If your wedding is outdoors, be sure to plan a secondary location to accommodate for bad weather. Take it from a girl who had it rain on her spring wedding day, it’s always best to play it safe!
Many guests are likely traveling to celebrate you both, and/or want to have fun with you during the reception! Securing rooms for them to book not only guarantee them somewhere to stay, but may also provide a discount depending on the number of rooms booked.
Select hotels also offer a free shuttle service to and from the hotel for safe transportation from the reception when a certain number of rooms are booked!
When writing your vows, don’t feel the need to say it all during the ceremony. Write a letter to your significant other to read before the ceremony! This allows you to cover every detail you wish and saves you time during the ceremony.
When planning a wedding, there is this guilt and feeling that you need to acommodate everyone and make everyone happy. I’m here to tell you, it’s not possible, no matter how hard you try and you’ll be stressed to-the-nines if you try to make everything happen. Simply remember that it’s your wedding, not theirs. Be kind, but don’t try to please everyone. As long as you and your fiancé are happy and excited for your wedding day, that’s all that matters!
Quick tip – don’t wear a bra the morning of your wedding. Doing so may leave marks on your back and shoulders which may be visible in your photos depending on the style of dress!
On your RSVP card, put a line for a song request. Your DJ will help you create a perfect playlist for your wedding, and will have amazing suggestions, but adding a note on your RSVP cards will help think of songs you’re interseted in, and be songs they’re looking forward to hearing!
Biggest and most important tips of all, enjoy the process! Relax, take your time, and enjoy all of the moments as you and your fiancé plan your forever. This entire process goes by so stinking quick, make sure you take a moment to enjoy being engaged.
I hope this helps you as you continue to plan for your big day! The process goes by so quick, I hope you enjoy every moment 💗
